• Series: When In Romans
"Without an understanding of God’s wrath, we will never understand the depth nor the riches of God’s mercy and grace. " Watch Episode Four of Pastor Jeff's series titled "When In Romans". Message Notes: Main Text: Romans 1:18-23 Without an understanding of God’s wrath, we will never understand the depth nor the riches of God’s mercy and grace. The Sovereignty of God! Job 42:2 “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.” Isaiah 46:9-10 “For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.” Daniel 4:35 states, “He does according to His will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay His hand or say to Him, ‘What have you done?’” Ephesians 1:11 we find one of the clearest statements of Sovereignty of God in the Bible: “. . . God works all things according to the counsel of His will.” Because God is Perfectly Holy, His nature, His attributes, and His character, are in perfect harmony. Hebrews 1:9 “Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity.” Deuteronomy 32:4 God is faithful and without iniquity. He is just and He is upright. Romans 9:14 “...is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.” Psalm 89:14 “Righteousness and justice are the foundations of God’s Throne.” Because God is not like us, we can’t push our concept of wrath on Him. Ungodliness is to act and live in a way that is against the nature of God. Unrighteousness is the fruit of ungodliness. Job 21:30 KJV The wicked are reserved for the day of destruction. They shall be brought forth in that day of wrath. John 3:36 KJV He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. Ephesians 5:6 “Let no man deceive you with vain words, because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the sons of disobedience.” 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 KJV When the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power. The greatest demonstration of the wrath of God was Calvary’s cross.
