When In Romans // Episode Two: The Good News
• Series: When In Romans
"Whatever controls our minds, our attitudes, and our actions is our master; and we are its slave." Watch the second episode of Pastor Jeff's new series titled "When In Romans". Message Notes: Main Text: Romans 1:1-7 Episode Two: The Good News! The word servant comes from the word “Doulos”, which means slave. Whatever controls our minds, our attitudes, and our actions is our master; and we are its slave. We can choose to serve the master of sin, or we can choose to serve the master of righteousness. Romans 6:13-14 NLT Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to serve what is right for the glory of God. An Apostle is a sent one, one called by God for a specific work, and then sent with power to accomplish that work. The good news is about a person. It’s about God’s Son. It’s about Jesus Christ our Lord. There are 332 Old Testament promises of the New Testament gospel, referring to Christ, with most of those promises fulfilled in His first coming. John 5:39 Jesus told the Jews to search the Scriptures of the Old Testament, "For they are they which speak of Me." Hebrews 10:7 Jesus said, "In the volume of the Book it is written of Me." Hebrews 4:15 For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. “Jesus became what we are, to make us what He is." If Jesus hadn't been from the line of David, He couldn't have been the Messiah. The word “Declared” comes from a Greek word, which is where we get our English word “Horizon.” Grace is defined as unmerited favor. It is described as a gift which is absolutely free and absolutely unearned. Matthew 6:33 Seek first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. 1 Corinthians 9:23 He says, "I do all things for the sake of the good news."
