SERMON NOTES: MAIN TEXT: Colossians 1:1-12 Verse 9 Paul prays that we would be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding! Knowledge is the Greek word, “Epignos” which means a super knowledge, to become fully acquainted with, to have a full understanding. 2 Timothy 3 :16-17 NLT 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work.  When we live what the Bible teaches, when we do what it says to do, we are living the perfect will of God. Wisdom and spiritual understanding, comes from the words, “Sophia Sunesis,” which means the ability to apply spiritual principles to any given situation which may arise in life. Every decision, every choice we make, has a consequence. God does not mean what He says... Genesis 3:1-4 KJV 1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.  This is the disconnect that is the direct result of deception. We believe in God, we just don’t believe what He says. True Christianity doesn’t just believe in God... It believes God. 2 Timothy 4:3-4 NLT 3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will reject the truth and chase after myths.  The word endure is the Greek word “Anecho” which gives us a picture of those who no longer put up with or have a tolerance for. Christians would not only lose their appetite for sound doctrine, but they would develop a distaste of it. Ephesians 4:11-16
